Good day, I have a question that goes as follows:

Consider the following experimental design:

A small apple farm plants 4 trees each of Cripps Pink, Granny Smith, and Golden Delicious in each of 5 different locations. They would like to model the mean time until first yield (in days) and mean number of apples in first yield for each group of 4 trees.

In a two-way MANOVA model, the residual degrees of freedom will be:

I don't know whether or not this is repetition or not?

Will it be (g-1)(b-1)

or gb(n-1)

In the latter what is n exactly? 60?

In addition I'm not sure what g and b are, and what they equate to.

I'm quite confused with this. Thanks for any help.
