Good Morning Ms. Bouvier,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to reach out to you with an update on Professor Craig Gilkey's answer to my grade appeal for Psychology of Thriving 289-800.
Professor Gilkey responded to my concerns, and I wanted to share his response to you:
"Hi Hayden, Look at my comments for part 3 and then look at part 1 to understand how I had to take off points for missing 2/5's of the assignment. Let me know if you still have questions after that. As for your grade, I agree with everything you said; you were attentive, participated wonderfully when you were in class, and the work that you provided was done well. I did give you grace for the laptop issue, and any points deducted were from things missing (e.g., attendance, class participation activities, 2/5's of your PERMA project, or from the group project rubric). The only point that I can think of that you could get back is if you re-evaluated the first part of PERMA project, but still then you would only be at a 68.9, and it would be unethical for me to round your grade up to a 70 at that point as much as I'd love to for you. I don't know how to help you further without losing my integrity. I hope this makes sense. Respectfully and regretfully, Craig"
I understand and appreciate Professor Gilkey's thorough explanation, and I previously forwarded the notes he mentioned about the project in our previous email. However, in light of his feedback I'd want to continue my position. I truly enjoyed the course, and I appreciate Professor Gilkey's instruction. I also appreciate his dedication to preserving grade integrity.
However in MyOswego, my total rating for the course is a D+. In Professor Gilkey's response, he acknowledged my attentiveness, active participation, and the quality of my work, stating: "As for your grade, I agree with everything you said; you were attentive, participated wonderfully when you were in class, and the work that you provided was done well."
Regarding Professor Gilkey's acknowledgement of my dedication and the circumstances surrounding my final grade, I respectfully request that my grade be reconsidered. I am confident that my performance in Psychology of Thriving 289-800 merits at least a B+, given the components of the course in which I excelled and the positive feedback from the professor.
With the circumstances and the points raised in Professor Gilkey's letter, I respectfully request that my final grade be reconsidered. I am confident that my dedication and efforts during the semester meet the requirements for a higher score of B+.
I hope you can look into my request and understand my perspective. I would appreciate any advice or support you can provide me in ensuring that my performance in the course is fairly and accurately represented.
Thank you for your attention and time. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes & Happy Holidays,
Hayden Atkinson
