GOVERNMENT 2 Case Study 2: Sally Sally is a 41-year-old woman with two school-age children. Sally has come to the Cultural Hub Community Centre, following a referral from her GP after breaking down in tears at her recent appointment. Her Defence Force partner | s away a lot, moving around a lot and there is conflict when he comes home as Sally is in charge when he is away and then not as he resumes his home life. She experiences a lot of conflict in her relationship with her partner, which began when Sally was 19 years old. At 20, Sally threatened to commit suicide when her partner wanted to leave the relationship and they ended up staying together. Sally confirms that this was not the first time she had threatened suicide, even though she had no real intention of following through with her threats. Throughout her childhood, Sally was very concerned about other people's opinion of her - how she looked, what she ate, who she had as friends, and eventually her choice of partner. At times, Sally finds it almost impossible to contain her emotions and often goes from being extremely angry to very tearful within minutes. Sally knows that she is behaving erratically but frightened of losing her partner, who she says is becoming more distant and Sally finds it difficult to manage her emotions. 1. What do you identify as the immediate goal you would want to work on with Sally? How will you approach this with her in the session? 2.
