Government is often times vilified as the problem to the country's economic woes, while the private sector is praised for the jobs and economic growth they create. However, many of the most successful companies have benefited from government-sponsored (taxpayer-funded) research and infrastructure. Should government receive a return on research funded by taxpayers and private industry commercialized and why or why not?
