  1. Grocery stores are now misting the vegetables in the producesection. Based upon your understanding of osmosis, what isthe principle behind this practice and what is most likely theoutcome of the practice?A). The idea would be that throughosmosis, the vegetables will take in water that is misted on themso they don’t wither and dry up. This would probably allowfor an isotonic situation, so the vegetables don’t lose anywater. This would keep the vegetables looking fresh. B). Grocery storesare misting vegetables to keep the cells in the vegetablehydrated. If the vegetables are not misted, then the cellswill shrink and become hypotonic. The mist prevents them fromshriveling, thus keeping the vegetables fresher. C). The principlebehind this practice is to keep the vegetables fresh andcrisp. If they didn’t mist the vegetables, they would mostlikely dehydrate in the cold air conditioned environment and loosemoisture. This does not involve either osmosissituation.
