GUIDE TO PROBLEM SET MD. 2: PRUBABILTT'I" STATISTICS Objectives This problem set is intended to assess the level of your mastery of probability, the normal distribution, the binomial distribution, and sampling procedures. By the end of this exercise, you should be able to: 1. Correctly solye problems related to the normal and binomial distributions; and 2. Explain how to draw a sample employing probability and nonprobabilr'ty sampling techniques. Tasks and procedures Answer the following problems that are based on the survey on students' attitudes towards Statistics {SATS} that was administered to 59 students enrolled in Social Science 103 in the M" 202121322 and rst semester of NF 202221323. 1. The students were asked to assess their level of agreement or disagreement with 36 statements about their attitude toward Statistics using a Fitem Likert scale ranging from 1 {Strongly disagree] to I" [Strongly agree}. Their responses were then added to derive the total SATS score. Negatr'yely- worded statements were reyersecoded to ensure that higher scores in each item correspond to a more positiye attitude towards Statistics. r'ls such, the higher the total score, the mo re positiye the attitude of the student is toward Statistics. Suppose you found out that your SATS score is 201] and that the mean Sri'rTS score is HES while the standard deyiation is 22.0. assuming that the SATS scores are normally distributed, answer the following: a. How does your score compare with the distribution of all SATS scores, i.e., what percentage of the students scored lower than you? {Round off your intermediate and final answers to tw_o decimal digits.] b. How many students haye a more positiye attitude towards Statistics than you? c. Estimate the EATS score of the student with the most negatr'ye attitude towards Statistics
