1. You will be randomly assigned to a group of 3-5 students and each group will work in a breakout room; the instructor will be visiting each breakout room for assistance during the activity.
2. Your group will select a brand/company that 1.) interest/value to you, 2.) consumers likely familiarity with the brand, 3.) easy access to the online information about brands products, target market, and any information that are relevant for the discussion.
3. Your group will discuss the following key points and write down the progress of their discussion in a shared google doc provided by the instructor:
A. Identify the name of the Brand/Company and introduce it in a few sentences;
B. Identify companys 4Ps Products (what they sell e.g., goods/services, experiences, etc.), Price, Place (Distribution) and Promotion; please conduct online research to find relevant information instead of solely relying on your own knowledge;
C. Analysis on Current Marketing Strategies concerning segmentation, targeting, differentiation, and positioning: compare your selected brand/company with one competitor that your group identifies; Please conduct online research to find relevant information that help your discussion & analysis;
D. Suggestions for Future Marketing Strategies: Make three (3) suggestions regarding what your selected brand/company can improve in the future. Your discussion should be based on the findings from the previous steps (a through c). For example, your group can discuss the issues regarding the effectiveness of brand identity and brand marketing program; effectiveness of brand management strategies over time and suggestions to survive in the competitive market by introducing a new line of product, new services, modify the methods of distribution, and come up with effective promotion messages; be creative and create fun ideas that provide value to target customers and build relationships with them; and
E. Prepare a report (oral as well as written formats, one report per group and one submission): The time for the groups oral summary presentation (2-3 minutes) is allocated at the end of the class; and the written report needs to be submitted by the end of the same day Monday at 11:59pm. Students are encouraged to complete during the class time, but they are allowed to work after the class and submit the paper online.
