Gulugu is a business that manufactures exclusive belts. The standard selling price is £15 and the standard variable cost is £6. The budgeted fixed cost for the accounting period is £23,000. The actual sales were 10% more than the budgeted amount of 8,600 units. The only other difference between the budget and the actual accounting figures was that the actual variable cost per unit fell by 15% from the standard one.

This was left over from a previous job and purchased originally at 4 per metre. This inventory of cloth could be sold for 2.80 per matre. The special order requires 1,680 metres of this cloth and the current market price is 6 per metre. Required: Calculate the relevant cost of the cloth to be used in completing the special order.
