Hatfields utility function is given by UH(MH, MM) = M H / Square M M , where M H is Hatfields wealth level and M

Hatfields utility function is given by UH(MH, MM) = MH / Square MM , where MH is Hatfields wealth level and MM is McCoys utility function takes a similar form: UM (MH,MM) = MM / Square MH. Suppose there is a task, neither pleasant nor unpleasant, that Hatfield and McCoy can perform together and that will generate an additional 2 units of wealth for the two men to divide. Neither man can perform the task alone or woth anyone else.

  • Suppose initially MM=4 and MH=2. Calculate Hatfields initial utility.
  • Please compute the resulting utility of Hatfield when both cooperate and perform the aforementioned task together and split the reward evenly
  • Assume the reward associated with the task is not necessarily split evenly. McCoy offers Hatfield a Payment P, keeping 2-P to himself. The lowest acceptable utility payment for Hatfield is the one that keeps his utility at the same level as if he did not participate. Please calculate this minimum payment level such that Hatfield accepts McCoys offer.
