Having bought a new set of wooden doors for his garage, Abdul wanted to sell his old metal garage door. He put an advert on the local village shop window which stated: - 'One metal garage door for sale. 150. Excellent condition. Call 07890 123456.'
On Monday, Pablo called Abdul and asked if he could see the door for himself. They arranged that Pablo would call round later that day to take a look. After Pablo had seen the door later that day, he told Abdul face-to-face that "I may be interested in buying your door, but only for 100. Can you also tell me whether all of the necessary fittings and bolts might be included"? Abdul said he would think about it and let Pablo know later that day.
Abdul e-mailed Pablo later that day saying that he would include the fittings and bolts but would only accept 200 and that if he didn't hear from Pablo by the end of Friday the door would be his. Pablo read the email, but then his internet stopped working as Sky were in the village doing repairs to the internet exchange box. So, Pablo wrote a letter to Abdul later that night saying that he would buy the door for 200.
Pablo posted the letter first class on Tuesday morning. However, due to unknown reasons, the letter was delayed and didn't arrive until the Saturday morning. Since he hadn't heard from Pablo by the end of Friday, Abdul texted Pablo at 5pm on the Friday telling him the deal was off, and he sold the door to his friend Heath. Advise Pablo as to whether Abdul has breached a contract with him.
