Health Literacy Project and Presentation (15%)

• Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.
• You will write a health promotion project on HYPERTENSION as the topic
• You will create a handout or brochure designed for patients at the 6th grade reading level.
• You will then create a PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, or other type of media presentation about your health literacy topic
• For your presentation, you will address:
  • Why you chose your topic (use evidence or personal experience in practice)
  • Background of the topic/problem
  • Describe your population/audience
  • Content: Describe how you approached the language/text in your brochure or handout to convey accurate information at the 6^th grade reading level or lower
  • Visuals: Describe why you chose to use the particular images/graphics/fonts in your brochure or handout
  • How you could potentially use this handout in practice
