HEAVY RAIN TRIGGERS FLASH FLOOD IN JB NEIGHBOURHOOD

JOHOR BARU: A couple was evacuated from their house in Taman Selesa Jaya here when it was flooded in meter$-$deep waters following heavy downpour today. Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Kamarulzaman Salleh said an $11-$member team were dispatched to the housing estate at $3\mathrm{.}19$pm$.$ However, upon their arrival, the couple were helped out of their house by neighbors. Kamarulzaman said rescuers also conducted checks in the remaining houses to ensure that their occupants and pets were not at risk due to the flash floods. The flood receded about an hour later after the rain stopped. There were no injuries reported among the residents.
