Hello All, The schemas we develop come from experiences throughout our lives. How are relationships are established and maintained. The influences of schema development start when we learn how to construct behaviors and process information. Schema continue to develop over the course of adulthood as our microsystem, mesosystem, and ecosystem change. Family, education, and peer groups are ways of how schemas continuously aid in expanding our framework. Events in our life-span impact our perspective on diversity, equity, and inclusion by allowing our schemas to evolve through social norms and attitudes which shape cultural differences. Our interactions between races, religions, and political beliefs channel our schemas, allowing us to understand each other better. Diversity helps generate a wealth of ideas and perspectives that enhance our collective ability to solve global problems. Inclusion enables individuals who are part of a minority group to express their whole selves safely and productively. psychology research allows us to better understand individuals' levels of prejudice through social, cognitive, and contact theories. the differences in color, or facial features, or gender identity, or sexual orientation, or hair, and so on, of another human are too great-or one has been taught to fear these differences. The solution lies in information and knowledge. The issue is to shift from negative to positive feelings. Individuals in my life have influenced my schema development by teaching me that not everyone has the same beliefs and sometimes those beliefs can turn into stereotypes. I believe schema is mostly applied to social justice. Having the ability to accept and understand that everyone has the right to be understood and accepted is when we are genuinely able to build those meaningful connections. We all share the same human rights and desire to be treated with respect.
