Hello, can you please explain these questions for me?For Q10: I don't know what forces act on the rod. I thought there should be a reaction force and friction at Y and only a reaction force at P and Q. However, in the answer, there is nothing at Y, and there is friction and reaction force at Q and P. How? For Q5:I get the resolving of the forces, but how do I choose in which direction will the particles move? In the answer, B will slide down, but how do I know? Especially for part a, where m is unknown, so I don't know which one have more mass. I'm guessing it moves in the direction of the heavier mass, but how do I determine that if it is unknown? Because I'll need that to determine the direction of the friction. Thanks

10 A uniform rod XY has weight 20N and length 90 cm. The rod rests on two parallel pegs, with X above Y, in a vertical plane which is perpendicular to the axes of the pegs, as shown in the diagram. The rod makes an angle of 30 to the horizontal and touches the two pegs at P and Q, where XP =20 cm and XQ = 60 cm. a Calculate the normal components of the forces on the rod at P and at Q. (8 marks) The coefficient of friction between the rod and each peg is p. b Given that the rod is about to slip, find p. (2 marks) 5 Two particles 4 and B on back-to- back rough slopes are connected by a light inextensible string that passes over a smooth pulley as shown in the diagram. A4 has mass 2kg and B has mass m kg. The coefficient of friction between A and the slope 15 0.2 and the coefficient of friction between B and the slope is 0.4. a Show that the maximum value that m can take before the particles begin to move is 10 + 4V3 5 b Given that m = 10, find the acceleration of the particles.
