Hello class I have enjoyed sharing with all of you thus far and I wish all of you the best on you future plans. I explain cybercrime as crimes that happen over the internet. Crimes that happen over the internet are usually what people call what collar crimes like money laundering and things of that nature. However, anytime someone uses the internet to commit a crime it can become a cybercrime. Another example could be bullying. This happens all the time in Schools across the United States. Domestic crimes are usual and expected however international cybercrime are a new and growing theme. Its forced the federal government to create new task forces to combat it. Now there are even local police department that have cybercrime units. In the city of Detroit we have our unit monitor social media this can gives up leads on gang activity and things like that. People have to monitor and deploy resources as needed. Because cybercrime is a new things most departments are dumping lots of money to combat cybercrime. In the Detroit Police Department our cybercrime unit is fairly new. But we're all learning new laws regarding social media and bursting up on the ones that were already created. Checks and balances always need to be in place as well as undercover operations. Sex predators use the internet to pray on young vulnerable kids. A couple of weeks ago there were so deputies undercover and they were able to bust an corrections officer who was trying to have sex with a 15 year old girl.
