Hello everyone! In my previous experiences, I have been fortunate to have some exemplary men and women in leadership, however I have also had many many not so great leaders. The leader I want to highlight is my current supervisor (female) and department head (male). My direct supervisor is very encouraging to the entire team. She is hands-on on the decision making as well as with the workload which amplifies her attribute of fairness. While we as employees are expected to be accountable for our actions and responsibilities, it often ends up being the opposite for our leadership, but I appreciate that my supervisor is accountable for her owns actions, and when mistakes are made which is inevitable, it does not become a blame game, everyone is accountable for their part. The male department head of our risk adjustment team is also a great leader because of the leadership attributes he possess. He has very strong Emotional intelligence encompassing the five components: self- awareness, self-regulations, empathy, motivation, and social skills (Pathak, 2019). Both of these leaders are very humble and self-aware, which I think helps them to lead well. They both share a willingness to learn from all walks of life and ensure that everyone is heard and included. I think they differ in their approaches to leading our team.
