Hello fellow scholars, I noticed that the receptionist was publicly discussing a patient's doctor visit where anyone could hear it, which is a violation of HIPAA and the patient's privacy. I choose to have the CNA quietly inform the receptions that another patient is listening to them discuss personal information, so that they would stop, without bringing more attention to the situation. Immediately after the confronting them I decided to inform the Manager who is more qualified to speak with the patient who overheard, to ensure that the information would not be spread any further and discipline the receptionists. Lucky, the manager was able to reassure the patient that the scenario will never happen again, and she agreed to keep the information to herself. The practice did not face a lawsuit, though the ones at fault of the leak were placed on probation.
