I am having a hard time understanding the Scenario and the questions, Please help and explain for a better understanding.

Scenario:

An employer provides uniforms to each employee includingshoes and socksand has a policy that nothing can be worn other than the uniform.No other accessory of any kind is allowed. No bracelets, clips, scarves, not even wedding or engagement rings.Mary is devoutly religious and asks to wear a necklace with a medallion of her religion's founder, who happens to be her father. The necklace would be seen above the collar of the uniform.How should this be handled?Why?
