Hello, i need help with this chemical engineering problem. Please i need every step explained well for the resolution of the exercise.
A patient arrives in the emergency room after an accident that resulted in a wound with 1.5 L of blood loss before emergency responders were able to stop the bleeding. Before the accident, the blood had the following characteristics: the hemoglobin concentration equal to 15 g/dL. The hematocrit at 45% and the total blood volume equal to 5 L.
a) The blood volume lost during the hemorrhage is usually replaced rapidly by the fluid entering the plasma and coming from other parts of the body and from the intake of liquids. Indeed, the individual who loses a lot of blood is typically thirsty. Determine the hemoglobin concentration in the blood after the blood volume has reached its pre-accident value of 5 L. Assume no red blood cell generation.
b) Determine the hematocrit value of the blood in the condition described in point a).
c) If each hemoglobin molecule contains 4 iron (Fe) molecules, how many moles of Fe were lost after the accident? The molecular weights of hemoglobin and Fe are 66000 g/mol and 55.85 g/mol, respectively
