Incident:

On December 16th my TA informed me that the student had submitted a final project with a: "watermark, reading "Preview Version - Writeria Limited" across it." Furthermore, there were some inconsistencies with the students code. Specifically, they used three packages which were not taught, nor utilized in the course, there were also multiple lines that were unlike any of the code taught in the class. In an of itself the code inconsistencies would not constitute a problem but in combination with the final project watermarked by an outside company the code inconsistencies suggest that the student outsourced the work and then submitted as his own. I followed up with the student asking for an explanation. The student explained personal distress but did not offer an explanation pertaining to the submission.
