Hello, please help on the below:
Reply to each by contributing somethingnewto the post either from the textbook, results from an Internet search, or personal experience. Complimenting and agreeing with someone's post is fine, but a post exclusively doing that is not worth any points.
A substantive reply will expand on specific comments in the initial post, consist of critical thinking and original ideas, and provide interesting and relevant additional information. (By the way, when you are conducting critical thinking about a subject, you are usinganalysis, interpretation, inference, explanation, self-regulation, open-mindedness, andproblem-solving to talk about the topic and what was said about it. Critical thinking does NOT mean that you are being critical of a person or what they've done/shared, etc.)
"Throughout the term, I was able to obtain a new skill in Microsoft as well as in my professional career. Prior to taking this course, I had limited knowledge of the ins and outs of project management. During this class, I learned how to make a project business case, how to use Microsoft Project properly, and how to use time management for a project. Over the last 10 weeks, I have also learned the importance of the project manager role.
Project management is more than just repainting a room or making a fire pit in your backyard with a group of friends. In the video "Introduction to Project Management - Lesson 1," posted by webkaye, project management is described as "everything you need to manage a project from start to finish" and the "application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements." What makes project management unique is the wide knowledge base needed to perform the duties needed. In addition to needing in-depth knowledge of a project, a project manager also needs to be accomplished in Microsoft Project, labor costs, material knowledge and costs as well as the ability to predict possible unforeseen complications in a project.
The project manager title comes with many roles and responsibilities. A big responsibility of being project manager is being able to properly communicate with clients, team members, and any possible vendors. A project manager who lacks communication skills could result in a poor project. They are responsible for making and keeping deadlines throughout the course of the project. Another role of a project manager is the coordination of each process group of a project, as discussed in the article "Project Management Process Groups," by Villanova University.
Microsoft Project is a great advantage to project managers when used to its full potential. With this software you can provid outlines of a project using summary tasks and milestone tasks, provide base pays and overtime pays for resources, and even provid a workday calendar per resourse. According to "Microsoft Project 2019 Step by Step," by Cindy M Lewis, there are many editions to this software. There is the Project Standard, Project Professional, Project Online Premium. All of these software programs can be used in order to make an outline of a project, keep track of the timeline of a project, and provid notes for a project. The professional edition "includes all the functionality of Project Standard plus a few additional features, such as the Team Planner view," (page 4).
Prior to taking this class, I had no knowledge of Microsoft Project. Getting to experience the software hands on as my first experience made it a lot easier for me to retain all of the information in the assigned textbook. In the book, it gave a step by step process on how to do everything in Microsoft Project as well as practice files to work on. I got to learn simple things like how to use the different reports in the toolbar to more difficult things like examining variances throughout the project. Having the step by step guide with pictures of what the outcome is supposed to look like also helped me retain a lot of the information. I knew that if my project didn't look like the picture in the book, I did something wrong and was able to pinpoint exactly what happened when reviewing the steps.
Overall, this course helped me develop new skills and learn new software. Microsoft Project can be extremely helpful to a project manager as long as they know how to use it properly. Project managers also have the ability to make a successful project when they acquire the proper skillset.
