Hello tutors! I am trying to answer this simple research-like activity but I am not sure about my answers so I need an assistance. I provided my own example at the end. Thank you!

------------

In this experiment, you would like to investigate whether a fidget spinner is an effective tool to improve anxiety.

HYPOTHESIS: The Alternative Hypothesis is: If people use a fidget spinner, then it is an effective tool to improve anxiety. The Null Hypothesis is: If people use a fidget spinner, then it is not an effective tool to improve anxiety. (I am a little bit not sure about this especially the dependent variable; feel free to correct me, tutor)

DESIGN: BETWEEN SUBJECTS DESIGN (TWO TREATMENT GROUPS: THE CONTROL GROUP AND EXPERIMENTAL GROUP)

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE (is the dimension that anexperimenterintentionally manipulates): In Experimental Group, the participants usefidget spinner. In Control Group, the participants do not use fidget spinner

DEPENDENT VARIABLE (isthe particular behavior we expect to change because of our experimental treatment): Honestly, I am not sure about this but I guess the dependent variable is Anxietyand its effects? Or the improvement of anxiety? I am not really sure. Feel free to correct me, tutor.

Here are my questions, tutor:

FIRST QUESTION: What do you think are the three (3) EXTRANEOUS VARIABLES in this experiment, and state the reasons why? (Take note: extraneous variables can also threaten an experiment's external validity by reducing the generalizability of the findings. They are all variables, which are not the independent variable, but could affect the results of the experiment. Each poses special problems in an experiment. Examples are temperature, environmental noise, psychological state, language, etc.) (I'm guessing the noise and psychological state are EVs in this experiment but please correct me, if I'm wrong)

SECOND QUESTION: May you cite three ways on how to CONTROL these three (3) Extraneous Variables?

THIRD QUESTION: WHAT ARE THE APPARATUSES IN THIS EXPERIMENT? You may use the bulleted format.

-----------------------------------

THIS IS MY OWN EXAMPLE:

In this experiment, you would like to investigate whether when people stand together will make them communicate better.

HYPOTHESIS: The Alternative Hypothesis is:If people stand close together, they will communicate better. The Null Hypothesis is:If people stand close together, they will not communicate better.

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE: The EXPERIMENTAL GROUP will stand 3 feet apart from each other. THE OTHER EXPERIMENTAL GROUP will stand 9 feet apart from each other to see whose group will communicate better. (THE CONTROL GROUP will not stand, I guess.)

DEPENDENT VARIABLE: Communication. The operational definition is: we can define communication as the number of sentences exchanged between each pair of subjects during 10 minutes.

THESE ARE THE EXTRANEOUS VARIABLES AND HOW TO CONTROL THEM:

1. Environmental noise can be controlled if we put the subject in a laboratory room where subjects are also exposed to the same surrounding or ambiance with less distraction. We can use sign such as "do not disturb" and "observer silence" so that it will not threaten the internal validity of the study

2. Psychological State of a person can become one of the extraneous variables in communication. To control this, we need to make sure that the people involved are sober enough, right in the mind and are not involved in any addiction or any substance use to avoid creating problems between the subjects.

3. Language is of important because differing language can affect the dependent variable. To control this, make sure that the subjects speak the same language like for example, english to understand each other and to communicate better
