Hello Tutors,

I require assistance on the following questions. I hope you can help me.

Q1: From a reliable international source such as the OECD, graphically present annual data on comparable unemployment rates in Australia and the G7 from 2001 to the latest available data. (For this question use graphs from the source.) Briefly comment on Australia's relative performance, particularly during and after the GFC.

Q2: There are two sources of data of "unemployment" in Australia. One is the ABS monthly survey, which gives the "official" unemployment figures; can find that at abs.gov.au. The other is the monthly "administrative" data from the Department of Social Services, which shows the number of people in receipt of JobSeeker and Youth Allowance (as jobseeker); can find that at data.gov.au. Jobseeker only started in March 2020. Design and present own tables and graphs comparing, from March 2020 to the latest month available, the official unemployment numbers, the numbers of underutilised workers, and the numbers of people receiving unemployment benefits. Explain why these numbers differ and which consider the most useful in assessing the state of the labour market as well as the fiscal cost of unemployment. (may find some information from servicesaustralia.gov.au useful with respect to eligibility requirements for benefits.)
