Help me respond to my classmates discussion posts 1st class mate discussion post The pennsylvania prison system started in 1862, Auburn opened in 1818, but was not coplete untill 1821The pennsylvania prison system is different from the Auburn system because the Pennsylvania system is requirsd to have isolation of prisoners at all times. When it come to the Auburn system the prisoners eat and work toger but are not allowed to talk to each other. They are also similar because both sysytems operated on the premises that prisons were institutions of refermation, and as such the inmates were candidate for humane treatmentFor punishment the Auburn system focuses on making thier inmates do physical labor, while the pennsylvania system emphasized solitary reflection and religious insruction. it was never determined witch one worked best. if i had to choose one i would choose Auburns approach, because making some one work all day is a lot more hard than reading the bible. if had to choose one to work for it would be Auburn, because religion is a way to connect to god, and all the major religions in the world are on the road to to healing, forgiving and loving. If the pennsylvania correction system did not focuse on hard labor so much I would not mind working for them instead. Second classmate discussion post Pennsylvania and Auburn prison system are similar because they both are prisons but they definitely are different in a lot of ways. Auburn prison opened in 1816 it was a system based in silence. Auburn originally used congregate cells but in 1821 Warden William Brittin borrowed the concept of solitary cells from Pennsylvania. The Auburn system method of the 19th century had people work through out the day and were kept in solitary confinement at night which enforced silence at all times. Pennsylvania system wanted to make their prison as miserable as possible. The system spread until it got bigger like the European prisons. Some people argued that the Pennsylvania system had a big effect on the prisoners minds and it really messed them up and that it was to costly. I was asked if I could work at either prison which one would I choose and I say neither Only because they both are very strict and if they are not playing with the prisoners at all they would definitely want their employees on a tight rope. I really don't like jobs that I have to be overly serious all the time because it puts me in a bad mood, why can't we laugh and joke a little. So I wouldn't want to work at either facility
