I am not afraid to say that I have been struggling with learning how to be mindful because I feel as if I don't get much time to focus on myself like I used to. Now that I am back to working and doing school full time my days are very limited in what I can do, my days off are mainly doing schoolwork until I can't anymore and trying my hardest to be well-rested for my overnight job. I have not been fully able to overcome that part of me because it is so hard but I would love to hear possible strategies that would be able to work for me to focus on myself.
The mindfulness exercise that has worked for me despite some of my challenges is tuning into your breath, this technique makes you slow down your breath and apply effort to each one (Cheryl Crumpler,2023). The reason this exercise has been working for me is because of my anxiety this exercise helps with correct breathing patterns and can help me learn how to calm myself down when I am having an anxiety attack.
Another breathing technique that is helping me is the lion's breath technique, it's known to help relieve tension within the face and neck. I often have tension in my face because I squint so much so it has been helpful with relaxing my face and making it easier to be able to concentrate.
