:The Idea of Definite Integrals The last unit of the course on Chapters 5 and 6 reverses all derivatives we have done in the class by anti-derivatives (integration). Instead of starting with the original functions and taking their derivatives, we are now going to start with derivatives and work basic to the original functions. There are only two main ideas we use in MAT 190 for integration; one is basic antiderivatives based on the power rule, the power rule exception, and basic e/'X. The other is nonbasic antiderivatives that take products, quotients, chains, eAf(x), and complicated functions we cannot find antiderivatives directly termbyterm, using a method called usubstitution.
