help please steb by step solution (P1). A centrifugal pump, of 32'' diameter, having the characteristics shown in Fig prob. 8 is used to pump water at 60F between two large open tanks through 1500ft of 16-in.diameter pipe. The pipeline contains 5 regular flanged elbows, two check valve, and a fully open globe valve. Assume the friction factor for the 1500-f t section of pipe f=0.020. Other minor losses are negligible.
a) If the static head (difference in height of fluid surfaces in the two tanks) is 150ft, what is the expected flowrate? Do you think this pump is a good choice? Explain.
b) The pump inlet is located 2ft above the open water surface, the head loss between the water surface and the pump inlet is 16ft of water. Would you expect cavitation in the pump to be a problem? Assume standard atmospheric pressure. Explain how you arrived at your answer.
