Discussion post below:

This week's readings explain that overly aggressive policing is not a methodology for long term success. But, it also provides some contrast, explaining how New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who retired from NYPD as a captain, re-introduced focused policing.

Using DC and NYC as examples, identify another US law enforcement agency that has had similar issues. Then, describe how that agency has responded to the allegations of misconduct and racial motivated policing by that agency. How does this help to illuminate the dichotomy of policing?

Note: This week's discussion is focused on internal policies and practices, and not consent decrees. Focus your efforts on how the agency implemented their response internally, rather than changes that were imposed by a consent decree.
