Georgetown Cupcake

Georgetown Cupcake is the leading destination for gourmet cupcakes with locations in Washington DC, New York, Boston, and Los Angeles. Sisters Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne are the co-founders of Georgetown Cupcake, stars of the hit series DC Cupcakes on TLC, and best-selling authors of The Cupcake Diaries, and Sweet Celebrations. The company bakes the cupcakes on-site daily using only the finest ingredients. In addition to offering their products to walk-in customers at each of its retail locations, Georgetown Cupcakes Catering Division creates memorable cupcakes and provides large volume orders for special events, such as weddings, holidays, and corporate functions. The following describes the sales/collection process of Georgetown Cupcakes Catering Division.

Partial Description of the Sales/Collection Process

The Catering Division of Georgetown Cupcakes sales process begins when the customer places an order through a sales associate. Orders must be made at least three business days prior to the requested delivery date. The sales associate enters the customer order information in the computer system and prints out three copies of the sales order form from the sales order database. One copy of the sales order is provided to the customer, one is sent to the bakery division for production scheduling, and the last copy is filed numerically in a temporary file in the catering sales division. The temporary file is used to inform the sales team of unfilled orders. The bakery department uses the sales order form as authorization to begin baking. When the full order is complete, a bakery manager compares finished boxed goods to the sales order form and approves the complete order. A bakery staff person uses the computer to prepare two copies of a delivery slip and to update the inventory database file. The sales order is filed in the bakery divisions filing cabinet by order number. One copy of the delivery slip is sent to the sales division where a sales associate files the delivery slip and the associated sales order form from the temporary file in the divisions filing cabinet by order number. The second copy of the delivery slip and the box(es) of cupcakes are sent to the delivery department.
