Henderson is the president of Allied Fabrication Corporation ("AFC"), a specialty steel company. An inspection by Beryl, a government agent, uncovers unsanitary conditions caused by cost-cutting practices of Veronica, an AFC employee in charge of materials handling, in an AFC plant. Beryl articulated her findings in a letter to Wanda, Veronica's immediate supervisor.Veronica is aware of the applicable regulations but her cost-cutting practices saved AFC $10,000 per week in waste disposal expenses.Veronica kept $500 per week of the savings in her budget as a reward to herself for her ingenuity.Wanda, an AFC vice-president, calls Beryl to assure her that the illegal practices will be corrected; but, nothing is changed, which a later inspection reveals.
