Henniker Urgent Care (HUC) is a walk-in clinic treating a range of minor injuries and ailments. When patients arrive, they check in at the front desk. There are on average 0.15 patients waiting to check in and the actual check in activity takes 2.4 minutes. Patients then wait in the waiting room to been seen by one of HUC's doctors. The average consultation lasts 12 minutes. 60% of patients then check out (explained below). The other 40% of patients need lab work and return to the waiting room until called by the lab technician. There are on average 0.6 people getting lab work done. (Note that these people are actively being treated by the lab technician - e.g., having blood drawn - after having waited in the waiting room.) Patients then check out. There are on average 0.2 patients waiting to check out. The actual check out procedure takes on average 1.8 minutes. Note that HUC has only one waiting room and all patients waiting for a doctor or the lab technician are in the same waiting room. Patients waiting to check in or check out stand in separate lines. The process is shown below
