As you will see in my attachments I have created a job characteristics model (JCM) for my role as cleaner at a shopping centre and from what i have described, I seeking some assistance on what recommendations and improvement could be made to role as a suggestion for improvement for a better workplace in relation to the information I have provided. To assist in further understanding, I have attached my JCM and additionally the task sheet, where it specifies the feedback. I also want to make it clear that I DO- NOT! intend to copy word- for- word, but rather need some ideas on how to structure and get unstuck. (The JCM attachments are in descending order)
PART A: JOB REFLECTION I consider my position as a cleaner for Sunnybank Hills Shoppingtown at Trident Services to be diverse and essential to the efficient running and maintenance of the establishment. In my capacity as a cleaner, it is my duty to uphold the highest standards of health, hygiene, and cleanliness across the whole facility, including the interior spaces such food courts, toilet facilities, and hallways. The centre's gardens, paths, and car parks are examples of outdoor spaces. In this reflection, we will examine how my job's present designs compare to the components of Hackman and Oldham's Job Characteristics Model (JCM) and talk about how we might make improvements to the results of my work. 1. Skill Variety: It is essential to my work that I comprehend the many cleaning techniques that are suitable for the given situation. When it comes to cleaning floors. for instance, different methods and tools work well for varying surfaces, places, and items, as well as clutter levels. For example, if there is a small amount of dust or crumbs on the food court floor, I would quickly transfer the crumbs into the pan using my dustpan and brush. However, during a long and busy week the floor has been contaminated by foot traffic and other sources, causing dirt, grease, and grime to accumulate throughout the floor, I would use the ride-on floor scrubber on Friday night, ready for the next week. Performing tasks like hazardous material cleanup is another example of the skill variety. There was a time in the car park where a parked truck leaked some flammable liquids onto the ground, raising the possibility of safety hazards like fires. Cleaning up these spills requires specialised kits, one of which is a fuel spill kit. It's crucial to remember to use the non-static broom included in this kit when cleaning up a fuel spill. Although it might be rather uncommon, using a regular dry broom has the risk of producing static electricity, which may ignite the combustable materials.2. Task Identity: The degree of task identity in my role varies depending on a number of factors, as they can observe the immediate effects of their work on that particular area. Cleaners who are in charge of a particular area or section of the centre, for instance, may have a high task identity. This relates to my job, when I am assigned food court duty, because after customers have finished eating in the food court, there are frequently leftovers and messes on the tables. The tables would stay dirty and would interfere with proper use, hygiene, and customer comfort if I neglected to clean them. 3. Task Significance: I personally belive cleaners have a significant impact the day to day aspects of lime and are not given enough credit this is evident, espically during the COVID- 19 global pandemic. The role of cleans, especially those working in shopping centres , have been paramount in by pdisinfecting and sanitizing. to prevent the spread of the virus. In my role some some of the key aspects of their significance include: Regular disinfection and sanitsing of highly frequent touched surfaces: Such as door hanles, handrails, buttons, tables and more toilets, taps and more. These actions are essential in reducing the risk of transmission of the virus among shoppers and staff. Increasing public perception : The visible cleaning and sanitation efforts occuring in a shopping have helped with enhancent of public confidence in their return to these spaces. Being assured that thorough cleaning measures are implemented can give peace of mind to shoppers that necessary precautions are being taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.Compliance with regulations and adapting to new challenges: Guidelines and regulations about cleaning and disinfection procedures in public areas have been released by numerous governments and health authorities during the pandemic. Clean ers are responsible for ensuring compliance with such regulations, which often include increased frequency of cleaning, use of TGA-approved disinfectants, adherence and the use of specialist Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 4. Autonomy: In my role, autonomy, once again can vary depending on my assigned job. As cleaners are assigned a specific areas or task with clear guidelines and procedures, the id limited as they I am following set routines and instructions. We have superviors who we report to. However this is not say that there a different tricks or methods that can be learned, as long as they do the job correctly. This autonomy can also relate to how a cleaner makes decisions when prioritising tasks, the allocation of resources (such as cleaning supplies), and response to unexpected situations (such as spills or emergencies) without constant approval from seniority. We work in team if the job requires and communicate through radio, to place cleaner where needed as well as identifying any emegencies or urgent jobs. 5.
