Hi. I have a discussion for class this week. Here is what we had to do:Think of a problem that you may be interested in that deals with a comparison of two population means. Propose either a confidence interval or a hypothesis test question that compares these two means. Gather appropriate data and post your problem (without a solution) in the discussion topic.
Here is my problem:
Hi Class!
We are having an unusually hot day here in Philadelphia so it got me wondering if temperatures are hotter now than they were in 2000. I chose the week of 9/25/2000 and compared it to the week of 9/25/2019.I am comparing the mean temperature for the 5 days. I will use a 2 sample t-stat for means w,ith a significance level of .05.
Data taken from:https://www.wunderground.com/history/weekly/us/pa/philadelphia/KPHL/date/
September 2000 sample high temperatures: 77,60,55,68,69,62 and 67
September 2019 sample high temperatures: 89,91,77,80,83,79,84
I used a t-stat since the samplings are random, independent and from different years, the population is larger than the sample, and after using statcrunch no outliers.
I will post answer later.
Thank you!
I am using stat crunch and I think I am fouling myself up with the level of significance. Am I calculating this right? Am I rejecting?
I think september 2019 hotter than 2000
