An animal shelter needs to create some temporary pens for their cats. A pen is a cube made from 5 square panels and one wire door. The pens can be built next to each other so they share a wall. Write an algebraic equation to show the relationship between the number of panels and the number of pens. Then, use this equation to work out how many pens they could build with 70 panels.

2.

A large tank is half full of petrol. After another 300 L of fuel is drained out, the tank is now found to be one-third full. How much does the tank hold when it is full? Write an algebraic equation to help you solve this problem.

3.

The mean of 20 numbers was found to be 38. Later it was discovered that a number 64 was misread as 46. Find the correct mean of the numbers.

4.

You had 4 cans of tomato soup and 2 cans of chicken soup in the cupboard. Your flatmate played a prank and took off the labels of all six cans. If you randomly open 2 cans, is it more likely that both cans will be the same flavour, or two different flavours.
