Hi i was hoping to recieve feedback on my personal statement and what I should add or remove or structure wise "Patience is bitter, but its fruits are sweet". While this has been a guiding principle for me I only realized the significance of such sacrifices after witnessing my brother's journey through law school. My brother dedicated every moment of his undergraduate years to achieving academic excellence. He took bold risks and made steep sacrifices which granted him the ability to create meaningful changes for our family. Today, I am proud to say that my brother can enjoy the fruits of his labor - he is the founder of a successful real estate law firm. In the same way, I hope to contribute to justice and create meaningful change - not just for my family but for as many people as I may have the honor to help one day. This has been the driving force behind my decision to apply to law school.

My desire to pursue a career in law is not solely influenced by my brother. By my own personal experiences and ambitions. Being raised as an Afghan Canadian I witnessed the challenges and injustices endured by my community both in our homeland and here in Canada. My family and I have encountered hardships and systemic biases that mirror the struggles of many, within our society. I saw firsthand the obstacles my parents faced to provide my family a better future, from arriving in a country where they felt like outsiders to facing discrimination in their daily lives.

These experiences ignited a deep desire within me to advocate for those who are marginalized and voiceless. By creating a charity for displaced Afghans and volunteering at local charities such as Islamic Relief, I've transformed my passion for advocacy into definite action, gaining a greater understanding through these experiences of how effective advocacy can profoundly impact individual lives. Additionally I have been working as an assistant at my brothers law firm since June 2020 gaining insights that have further fueled my passion for pursuing a career in law.

In regards to extracurriculars, I am a board member of the Muslim Student Association, both in high school and university. In high school, I helped conduct food drives for the less fortunate and raise money for the school through community fundraisers. In university, I was a helping hand in community dinners and helped raise over $15,000 on various occasions for orphans and refugees. Along with this, I helped raise money for the flood victims in Libya and successfully raised $8000 over the course of a week with fellow peers. As a board member of the Muslim Student Association, I've developed strong leadership, organizational, and public speaking skills.

Another significant reason as to why I want to pursue law is regarding the case of Adnan Syed, a man wrongly charged with a crime who captured attention when he was exonerated based on evidence demonstrating his innocence. Reading "Adnan's Story" by Rabia Chaudry profoundly influenced my perspective on Muslim cases. Along with this, a Muslim lawyer pursuing to free Adnan of his charges and working so hard inspired me to do the same for the wrongfully incarcerated. It inspired a firm reason to attend the law program and address the flaws within the judicial system that allow for wrongful convictions. Watching his struggle and eventual acquittal emphasised the legal system's role in righting wrongs and defending the innocent. It sparked my passion to support my community when marginalized and unheard, strengthening my commitment to seek fairness and justice through a legal profession. Sadly, Muslims have often faced discrimination and unfair portrayals in the media and public perception, leading to stereotypes. However, those who take the time to understand Islam discover its core values of peace, kindness, and fairness. Along with the interest of my brother's inspiration and the Adnan Syed case, I am also focused on the integration of artificial intelligence in the law world, recognizing its potential to integrate technological advancements. My experience working at my brother's law firm has enhanced my commercial awareness and exposed me to the efficiencies that AI can introduce. I want to integrate automated profile checks for clients to improve efficiency and client service. This allows for faster and more accurate compliance checks. AI will analyze property histories and conduct background checks using legal documents to ensure complete compliance with real estate law procedures. I aim to make legal services more accessible and efficient through technology.

Applying to the law program is not merely a step towards my career; it is a deep and personal commitment. It's a promise to leverage my education to overcome justice, stand for those who feel voiceless, and honor the sacrifices my family made to provide me with opportunities they never had.
