The CPA firm was satisfied with his performance, but company policy prohibited the retention of anyone who could not be licensed as a certified public accountant.
Tom holds a degree in accounting and was an honours graduate from a well-known university. For several months he has been searching for employment in the private industry where the CPA designation is not always a requirement. He has been to dozens of unsuccessful interviews. He was fully qualified for these positions, but other applicants who are CPAs were selected to fill the openings.
