MID TERM EXAMINATION (50 MARKS) QUESTION 1 Sweety Food Sdn Bhd started a food processing business on 1 July 2017. The company bought two food processing machines costing RM70,000 each on 1 August 2017. The company also incurred transportation cost of RM3,000 for both machines, installation cost of RM3,500 and maintenance cost of RM2,500 for each of machine respectively. All costs incurred has been paid by Sweety Food Sdn Bhd upon the delivery of machines. The company adopts a depreciation policy using straight line method, calculated on a monthly basis at the rate 20% per annum. The food processing machines are expected to have a useful life of 5 years. Company closes its books on 30 June each year. Required: a. State the recognition criteria for an asset in accordance with the MFRS116 Properties Plan and Equipment. (2 marks) b. Explain briefly whether the food processing machines can be classified as property, plant and equipment in accordance with MRFS116. (3 marks) C. Briefly differentiate between initial and subsequence cost of a property, plant and equipment (2 marks) d. Calculate the initial cost of the food processing machine. (3 marks) e. Compute the depreciation expenses as at 30 June 2018(show the working). (2 marks) f. Journalize the transactions above for the year ended 30 June 2018
