hi, so i submitted my homework to my professor and I got the below response from her.

professor feedback "what type of data will you collect with your instrument will determine if a t-test is appropriate or not"

PICOT: Is there a difference in the likelihood of suicidal ideation (O) among bullied

LGBTQ students aged 18 or older (P) who attend schools with anti-bullying programs (I)

compared to those who do not attend schools with such programs (C) within the first

twelve weeks of the school year (T)?

Descriptive statistical tests

The demographic study will be performed with the intention of comparing demographic

factors. A series of analyzing the collected data will be performed to identify the link between

demographic variables such as the age of the LGBTQ students, their assigned sex at birth,

ethnicity, class rank, and the main variable of interest in this research, which is the participants'

gender role (e.g., Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, or Queer). The goal is to

determine whether there is a relationship between the variable of interest and the demographic

variables.

The collected information is described by descriptive statistics, such as the range of

values, their average, and the most prevalent category. Descriptive statistics provide investigators

with a greater understanding of the study sample (Simpson, 2015). Graphs, charts, and

discussions of the results will be utilized to present the descriptive statistic as a summary of the

group data. I will use a pie graph or a bar graph in my study. While a bar graph can also be used

to look at absolute numbers, both choices allow us to look at the relative number of participants

within each category example by reporting the percentages inside each category (Simpson,

2015). This will be essential in informing the researcher about the structure of the data and the

relationships between various variables. As a result, the descriptive statistics will give the

quantitative research description in a comprehensible approach.

Inferential statistical tests

I would use the T-test for tests inferential statistics. Comparing the means of two groups

is done statistically utilizing a t-test. It is frequently used in hypothesis testing to ascertain

whether a method or treatment truly impacts the population of interest or whether two groups are

distinct. One can only compare the means of two groups using a t-test.

I would conduct a two-sample t-test, sometimes referred to as an independent t-test, in

my research since the groups came from two separate populations (for example, two different

institutions). The t-test assumes the same things about your data as other parametric tests. The ttest

presumes that your data are independent, exhibit a normal distribution, and are homogeneity

of variance (Bevans, 2020).
