Suggested approach to answer:

Start with a brief explanation what means shaping common purpose (suggested is Schein (1988) and 'When is a team not a team?' by David Casey (1985)) and continue with explanation by reflecting on main working group (I work in the office for a steel fabricator company) and add a reflexive note to explicitly consider two methods through which the common purpose of your team is shaped and whether you would adopt these ways as methods for shaping the common purpose if you were starting your own team from scratch.

Additional part should cover an explanation how you can use your connections and networks to achieve a particular task or purpose. This amounts to explaining how wider relationships across an organisation can be used to shape focus on a common purpose.
