HM Passport Office is the only authority to issue passports in the UK. HM Passport Office is part of the Home Office. Although the existing system allows users to apply for a new passport and to renew existing passports, for the purpose of this coursework, we will limit the functionality of the system to renew passports only.

Users visit the website where they can read information on how to renew their passport. If they want to apply to renew their passport, they must create an account. Users must provide information such as: name, address, valid national insurance number (NIS) as well as a login name and login password. If the account is successfully created, then users become applicants. If the information provided is not correct or do not match, then no account is created, and the user is asked to start the process again.

When an account is created, the applicant must login and select from two options: Standard service

  • Fast-track service (also called one-week fast track service)

For both cases, they must provide:

  • Digital photo
  • Old passport details
  • Details of a credit or debit card

The cost for the standard service is 82.50 and for the fast-track service is 142. Additionally, the fast-track service requires applicants to attend an appointment at a Passport Office. The applicant provides the above information and submits the application. The status of the application, when it is first submitted, is submitted.

In both cases (standard service and fast-track service) an administrator checks if the digital photo satisfies certain criteria. A digital photo must be clear and in focus, in color and at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall. If the digital photo does not satisfy the criteria, then the application is rejected, and the applicant is notified. If the digital photo is accepted then if the applicant has applied for standard service, the status of the application becomes under consideration. If the applicant has applied for fast-track service, s/he is asked to book an appointment at the Passport Office. At this stage, the status of the application becomes waiting. If an appointment has been successfully booked, then the status of the fast-track application also becomes under consideration. Finally, after all checks have been completed (including the appointment for the fast-track service), the application becomes either accepted, a new passport is issued and the applicant is notified or rejected, no passport is issued, and the applicant is notified. i want a perfect class diagram
