Hollywood Accounting: Creative, but Not So Glamorous for Writers and Actors

1 ) Why do you think film producers continue to go through the process of making writers and lower-level actors and filmmakers feel they have a stake in the game? Do you see any other alternatives to this sort of dealing making?

2 ) Knowing what you know about Hollywood accounting, if you were a Hollywood actor or writer, how would you go about constructing your contract or agreement with the film producer?

3 ) Some compare the antics of Hollywood accounting to the hush nature of salaries in corporations. In an article entitled We Call it Martian Accounting, the author states: The studio doesnt want it to get out that it paid, sat George Clooney $ 15 million for his last movie, lest Denzel Washington ask for the same amount. Similarly, Renee Zellweger may not want people to know that she did her last role for $ 4million, lest the studios try to hold her to the price again. Do you agree that this part of the explanation of Hollywood accounting?
