Homework Case Study (Football Coach Salary):
The reports of Footballscoop released the salaries of university football coaches around the United States. In order to find out whether paying coaches high salaries is worth the cost, a university hired a research consulting team to test this possibility using a football coach salary study. The researchers collected salary data of 105 football coaches across the U.S. Please download the data set (College Football).
Please address the following five questions using the data set (College Football) in your managerial report:
- Provide the numerical and graphical summaries of the data (e.g., averages, sample size, etc.) using the descriptive statistics technique. Describe the average salary.
- Use the regression analysis technique to investigate the following hypothesis. After running the regression analysis, discuss what hypothesis is supported using the p-value approach at the alpha criteria of .05.
Ho: Head coach school pay does not positively predict football net revenue.
H1: Head coach school pay positively predicts football net revenue.
- What conclusion and recommendations can you provide to the university from your analysis of this data set?
- Provide at least one residual plot and discuss whether the data set should be assumed to be normal, or not normal. (Just check one of the residual plots when conducting the regression analysis technique with Excel)
What would be the ethical implications if researchers were to falsify the results of this data set for his or her benefit? From your opinion, why would falsifying the results of this study be perceived to be an unethical use of statistics? Whom might be harmed by lying with statistics in this casestudy problem? Please Explain
