How can various assessment tools, including constructed-response items, essays, portfolios, and surveys, be effectively utilized in educational and clinical settings? Are there unexplored assessment methods for measuring different constructs, knowledge, or abilities we have yet to consider? When designing interview protocols and questions, what considerations, such as measurement level and scale type, should be taken into account, regardless of the modality? Finally, (how) can one avoid bias in interviews, oral exams, and even portfolios, given the weight of appearance, confidence, and poise as part of the gestalt of evaluating someone's overall verbal performance? As a result of any or all of the answers to these questions, how would one most prefer to be evaluated or assessed using an oral/verbal method, and (briefly) why?
