How do i respond to discussion below

In consideration to research, ethics are vital. We see examples of unethical research being done throughout human history. From human experimentation being done by the Axis powers in the second World War to the social research done in the Stanford Prison Experiment, we have all seen what happens when ethical boundaries are not being placed on research.

When comparing paid research to unpaid research, one has to take into account many factors. In paid research, the compensation could play a huge role in a subject's participation, and it can be argued that the pay is the incentive for a subject to complete the term of research, potentially influencing performance or honesty in the information given. Unpaid research is typically made up of a subject base of volunteers. This means the information given is given without incentive, essentially waiving any room for dishonesty or flawed reporting.

So long as compensation is not tied to achieving a specific end, I believe subjects have the capability of being objective in both paid and unpaid research. However, subjects have a much higher cumulative disposition to being objective in unpaid research, since the compensation incentive is absent.

In my life and place of business, I have seen plenty of ethical issues. I have taken part in research directly tied to these issues. For example, Governor Northam of Virginia ordered a state investigation of the student body of my college, amidst racism allegations made by former students. Although I have not directly seen or even heard evidence related to such allegations, I was a part of this research, and was able to hear testimonies from these former students. Learning that this investigation was launched in order to "save face" for the Northam administration amidst racism allegations against himself, I saw firsthand how political organizations use serious ethical issues in order to benefit themselves.
