The article goes on to explaining that labor unions are able to exist financially through dues being imposed on its members to pay how often is specified. The development of labor unions has seen a couple of changes throughout the centuries. The first union in the United States was established back in 1794. Laws supporting labor unions were still in the processing phases so tensions between company owners and employees ran high. The government would often time back the company owners over the union when a dispute aroused. For instance, in 1894 the employees of Pullman railroad vocalized the unfairness of their wages and current working conditions. Instead of conducting a meeting to hear the issues and come to a resolve the workers were confronted by soldiers who escalated the situation and became fatal.
