How do you think Philips could increase the efficiency of its operations? Instead of laying off people which led to employee de-motivation, perhaps, Philips could play into its core strength, development and innovation of creating and delivering products, to come up with efficient ways of conducting business. Going back to Lincoln Electric, would the piecework model work here?
