How does Bastiat describe "The Law"? And what does Bastiat think "The Law" should be? Do you agree or disagree with him? Why?

Bastiate decsribes "the Law" as an originization of every individuals right to be lawfully defended form wrongdoing. He says that every person should have the right to defend themselves, their freedoms, and their property. That each of us has this right as a natural right given to us by God. He expalins that the law should not have any other purpose that to protect these rights, and it should not be used against any person, freedom, or property. Bastiat believes that if these rights were in place and respected by the law then there would be justice, and there would be peace and order. He explains how an individual should be responsible for their own life, and be respected by the law to enjoy this freedom and enjoy the "fruits of their labor" Bastiat, p 8. He believes that we should be able to live freely, and not be exploited by the law and the government.

I agree with Bastiat's views. We are born into this world by God and should only be governed by Him in our personal lives. We should be able to work and provide for ourselves and our families with out having to pay the government for what we have worked for and established in our own life. I agree that the government has been perverted and exploits its citizens. The law should only exist to protect its citizens from harm. Not control almost everything we do and work for. I feel the government and the law has overstepped its boundries, and has violated our rights to live a sovereign and peaceful life with the comfort of knowing we are protected from those who chose to disobay the laws and do us harm.
