How o respond to he following DQ answer. Provide citations

Personal values and morals are a contributor to all levels of interaction whether at home or in organizational settings. As a "Pastor's Kid" I grew up observing servant leadership in progress from both of my parents. Ongoing service to members of the congregation, board/decons, and our neighbors was common, In some ways, to the adversity of my parents. Servant leadership is a core value for me because of this integrated upbringing. As a mental health professional, early in my career, I was frequently wanting to serve families I worked with above/beyond what would be considered the professional norm. I would often find myself thinking if only, I should, what resource, etc. Hein (2019) reported our values inform our behavior and ultimately the way we treat others. It was with the expanded training as a trauma-informed therapist that I learned the necessity of client engagement and empowerment which helped me create a balanced approach to my servant leadership style. The awareness of these values and morals, in the field of mental health, are addressed in the ACA Ethical Codes A.4.b. (2014) which states,

"Personal Values Counselors are aware ofand avoid imposingtheir own values, attitudes, beliefs, and

behaviors. Counselors respect the diversity of clients, trainees, and research participants and seek

training in areas in which they are at risk of imposing their values onto clients, especially when the

counselor's values are inconsistent with the client's goals or are discriminatory in nature" (p. 5)

The identified ethical code would not exist if there was no cause, care, or concern identifying this as a possible risk. I truly believe an acute awareness of our morals is necessary for ascertaining the best approach to the parties we work with. One key belief expressed by Dr. Hein is that servant leaders were servant leaders long before they were aware they were servant leaders (GCU, 2019). For me, this is absolutely true. I was engaged and practicing servant leadership alongside my parents and it has both transformed and grown alongside me within my career. I believe my style of leadership has engaged a waitlist for clinical services, interns, and exceptionally qualified candidates; and I find it humbling when this belief is affirmed.
