Part A: Hadley is very interested in purchasing a new car with his savings. He has always wanted a vintage New Norfolk brand car, but they have always been out of his budget. Coincidentally, as Hadley is standing by the photocopying machine, he notices that it is still in use and checking what is being printed, he sees an advertisement for an updated New Norfolk by on of his work colleagues. Very excited by this, Hadley waits around near the photocopier to find out who has been printing g the advertisement. Eventually, one of this colleagues, Jace, comes to collect the ad. Hadley and Jace have worked at the same firm for nearly five years. They both started as interns on the same day. They each did five rotations in different departments at different times and during the firm end of year party in 2016, which they both attended, it was announced that Hadley would work in the Environmental department and Jace in the Agribusiness department. To celebrate they shared a glass of champagne. While they have exchanged words here and there over the years, the two departments are separate and use separate floors of the same buildings. Colleagues from different department do not really socialize with colleagues of other departments, but since they know each other from their intern days, Hadley and Jace are a bit more sociable than the rest of the firm. When Hadley sees the ad, he inquires with Jace, who says, "Yes, certainly am selling. I remember you mentioned you always wanted a bicycle, so I'm going to hang these around the transport department." Hadley panics and says, "No. I love cars. Remember that enormous case I was involved in with the Rolls Royce? What are you asking for? "$60,000." Hadley nods. " I could give you $60,000, plus then you wouldn't have to see the people from the Transport department arriving each day with your car. You know how they love to park right outside the door and block and the entrance." Jace laughs. "You're absolutely right! Yes, sure. I'll sell it to you just to avoid that!" Hadley pulls a piece of paper from the machine and writes down his phone number and hands it to Jace Two weeks later, when Hadley calls Jace, he finds out that Jace sold the car to someone else. Jace says he though he and Hadley were just having a good joke. QUESTION - Hadley comes to you for advice on whether he has any claim against lace
