How to respond to the following DA below. Do you agree?
Leadership plays a directional role that is critical to the effective performance of each of the four management functions. Someone who people look up to for direction (controlling), that makes keen decisions (planning), has an astute eye for detail (organizing), more importantly, one who possesses the charisma, respect, and power that compels others to follow (leading). Innovation, on the other hand, plays the role of the creative agent in management functions planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (Daft).
In my own experience, paying attention to detail and having eye for the creativity required to be innovative is the fastest path to success as a manager. To integrate leadership into, perhaps leading and controlling, that just simply occurs naturally, or it should. As I stated above, people tend to follow those that have charisma or the ability to implore others to act. History is littered with examples of charismatic leaders having more significant historical impact that those who "leaders" who simply lacked that perfect blend of intelligence, wisdom, and other attractive attributes that drove people to follow them.
